Why are Private Lessons the Best?

Historically, yoga has been taught and practiced in much smaller settings than the modern group exercise classes we know and love today- and there’s a reason.

While public yoga classes are increasingly popular, they lack the conversational structure that flows organically in private sessions. The tradition of gurus, or teachers, passing on information about the practice in smaller groups or 1:1 settings is optimal for a number of reasons.

  • more effectively gather and integrate information about medical history to make relevant suggestions for contraindications and modifications
  • use integrated information about a practitioner to suggest therapeutic poses, meditations, or breath techniques
  • cue specifically to an individual to provide foundations for safe alignment through muscle engagement and breath awareness
  • attune to nervous systems to ensure that intensity/level is appropriate

  • Yoga is for everybody. If funds are limited please inquire about sliding scale or pro bono options!
  • 24 hours in advance is required for cancellations (except in the case of emergencies). Late cancellations will incur the session fee.
  • Sessions are available in person in Austin, TX and surrounding areas or virtually.
